Les Misérables

Lots of folk waxing lyrical about the film version of Les Misérables. What little I have seen on the television has me concerned about the standard of singing and general choral work by comparison with what to me is the Gold Standard, the Tenth Anniversary Concert. Of course, the film has the advantage of far grander scenic possibilities.

I love Musicals whether of the 1950's or as recent as today. So I will not find any faults etc. The only thing with Les Miserables that i might complain about is that it is too long.

Trying to decide what musical to get tickets for my mums birthday thinking about phantom or Jersey boys. Never been to a musical so will be fun.

Phantom of the Opera. Beautifull musical. You can't lose with this one. One suggestion is that don't sit close to the front. The music is a bit loud.

I saw it about a week ago and it was quite good. The singing was actually impressive, not so overdone as you think hollywood has the tendenancy to do. I cried like a baby at the end so it was worth the $8.00 ticket! It was very long though. My only other complaint is that I didn't like all the press involved around the massive dieting done by Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman for their characters transformations. They didn't need to do that and it is very unhealthy for the body. There are makeup artists and camera people that could have given the same effect without the risks involved.
