Thinking about Cleggy's career - when did lino go out of fashion and hence the likelihood of a lino salesman being made redundant by his local Co-op?

Presumably about 1970 - although we know his wife, Edie, died in 1971 (on headstone in pilot) and he was redundant afterwards because he did wonder what she would make of it.
