Not sure of the drift of George's contribution here, particularly in respect of Frank Thornton photograph but the young Peter Sallis does remind me of Hugh Gaitskell.

And I suppose Frank Thornton has always had an element of Paul Eddington about him.

LOL, unfortunately I don´t know everybody you mentioned. I see what you mean about Frank and Peter, George, I think it is also the dimple in their chins.
I´m not familiar with Paul Eddington, only a vague idea, but I can see that too. The rest I can´t judge.
