It's called The Muddy Furlong but it's actually 30 furlongs. It's supposed to be mainly lakes and ponds with obstacles but because of our crazy temperatures it was mainly stagnant mud pits and swamps leading to very slippy obstacles but it was still fun.
 
Reminds me of Sidari in Corfu and a few places in Spain where the locals believe that the mud has minerals which are considered good for the skin . I assume , Pearl ,that sadly this common or garden English Mud did not yield you any compensation for running through it and getting caked with it . I suppose if it did you would be back shovelling it into tubs and flogging it at a local market.

Actually it really does make your skin softer, my arms, legs and everywhere you find mud has ended up feels really nice once you're able to scrap it off, the trick is getting caked in it early on, then let it harden, it's also easier on the car if it's hardened, then when you shower it off you feel a difference.

I assumed you might have been able to get excess mud off at the event before climbing into your car and even have been able to change out of your gear before leaving . Many many moons ago our company organised an orienteering event at Hamsterley Forest and of course the rain was horizontal the day before and during the event we were so muddy that we just jumped into a drainage ditch near the finish which had filled with rainwater to form a natural bath just to get the mud off before using the changing area to get out of our soaking wet clothes . Despite the weather it was such a great day .
 
We were the last wave so the sheep dip had been used a few hundred time, tbe only changing room is also the carpark so its best to just let it dry off. I have a dryrobe and change clothes but that doesn't wash the mud off.
 
:39: Hope you are not serious about the sheep dip! It's a mixture of pesticide and fungicide. Could be toxic !:13:

Glad you had a great time but I will not understand the fascination with mud. Yes, the exercise is good of course, but mud??? Yes, some mud is good, you go to a spa and they cover you with a certain type of mud. But then keep in mind that there are ugly critters in certain types of mud. Just saying. But I'm sure that Yorkshire mud is the best.
