Mushy Peas

Picked this up at an international grocery store in Cincinnati. I look forward to sampling to discover what the lore (or fuss : ) is all about.

OK, who is going to be first to pile in and say, actually, they're not mushy peas? No me for sure.

They're apparently marrowfat peas, and with a rather high sodium content. What else is required for them to be classified as "mushy peas?"

Coarsely mashed? They're in a class of foods that don't like me, so I've never tried them.

Wow, been awhile since I was last in Cincinnati. Bet the place has changed a bit over the decades. Saw many a Reds, Bengals and Stingers games there growing up. The WEBN fireworks displays were a blast . The serpentine wall was a neat spot to watch the water and boat traffic. Is there still a tall restaurant on the Kentucky side where the floor rotates 360 degrees? Loved seeing the paddlewheel boats (Spirit of Cinci. / Delta Queen) as a kid and dreaming about how life was like on the river back in the day.

I'll see if I can find these. The only other options I saw were some that were still dry in small packets you would cook at home. There are multiple sections of the store, sectioned by country so I'll look around next time I'm up there.
