What who happen if all the spell checkers and autocorrect stopped working, I only ask as I often type a sentence, then look up at the mass of red lines under words, for me it's an age thing with a hint of laziness, I wonder when Collins last sold a dictionary

Buy a copy of the Uxbridge English Dictionary the words are spelt correctly but the definitions are somewhat different to the real meaning.

Back in the day, when desk-top computers were new and I was using Volkswriter at work, and the idea of spelling and grammar checkers wasn't even a gleam in anyone's eye, I always kept a copy of Webster's next to the keyboard.

Do I think spell checkers are responsible for poorer grammar and spelling generally? Yes probably but I'm guessing the same could have been said about numeracy skills when the pocket calculator was invented may years prior.
