I recently watched "The Mrs. Bradley Mysteries" a short-lived series that had lots of potential. Starring Diana Rigg, Neil Dudgeon (Midsomer Murders), and Peter Davison (Dr. Who and All Creatures Great and Small). Mrs. Bradley and her chauffeur solve mysteries that the Inspector cannot get a handle on. Sadly there were only 5 episodes before it was canned. If nothing else, it gave Neil Dudgeon a chance to act next to a couple of acting greats to help him prepare to assume the Barnaby role.

Another show is simply called Rev. and is about a vicar who is transferred from a bucolic church to an inner city church on the wrong side of town with almost no congregation. I have found that it is an interesting show.

Yes, Rev is really good fun. Vicar and his wife in London in
a rather weird parish.

From what I have seen - not such a werd parish. Quite a few like that - actually! And you may appreciate that I do have some knowledge of this ....

More odd but interesting shows from the BBC/ITV. There's Lead Balloon about a guy who is not too successful, and then there is The Durrells in Corfu (set in the '30's) about a single mother who moves her family of 3 adult children and one youngster to Corfu, a Greek isle. - a quirky show.

Hi Adanor,

Have you seen Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries or Rosemary & Thyme? Both murder mystery who dunnit solving shows that might be an interest for you.

I liked Rosemary and Thyme due to Felicity Kendal from The Goods (or Good Neighbors) and Pam Ferris from Call the Midwife. Couple of ladies into gardening and crime solving.

Miss Fisher's is a sharp witted lady solving crimes in Melbourne back in the 1920's. I like the time period and the Australian perspective.

Cheers,
Rick

Is that about Gerald Durrell ,the naturalist? He wrote a book about it , "My Family And Other Animals."

Dick ,

I read some reviews of the show and the DVD and they were quite scathing. They said that the series bears no resemblance to Gerald Durrell's books and if you have read them please don't watch this pale imitation of the real thing . I have personally not read the books or seen the show but given the choice I would always opt for the books.

I'll try to get the books. The little boy seems to have quite a large number of animals.

Yes it would be, there was also a novelist and poet called Lawrtence Durrell wo wrote the Alexandria Quartet and Tunc and Nunquam which I read in the early 1970s.
