Reporting Back to Work

I feel like Norm at times, letting you know I might be out for a while and when I am back. :)

I was able to catch a handful of Foggy's second run this summer but many afternoons were tied up with kids activities. Now I go back to work on Monday with my teaching job. It looks to be another busy, hectic year with my job, the work I bring home, and my kids' homework and activities. On top of all of this, we will likely be moving sometime in the middle of the school year as our local government will be clearing our home for a new train line.

In short, this means I might not be around for a while. I will post when I can.

Hope the move goes well and you have a great term. Pop in and see when you can or pop on Facebook and say hello when you can. We'll look forward to the October break when you'll hopefully have some spare time. Take care Cod :D

Good luck Cod for the coming terms hope all goes well and I hope all goes swimmingly with the housing situation please keep us posted with progress on that front , stay well be lucky!

The school year starts now???

It's already been going for a few days in Oklahoma and Nebraska as well as many other places. It gets earlier and earlier each year. There are very few states that wait until September anymore. And of course teachers have to start even earlier than the students.

Yes, at me2 said, it starts earlier for teachers. Students get one more week off.

I will have a mountainload of work for the next ten months, but there are times that I neglect it for a bit to get on this site. So I won't be a total stranger, just a lot less frequent.

As a teacher in one of my former careers you have my every sympathy - the amount of work needed to be done outside of actual contact time seemed to me to be ever growing.

Glad I am no longer having to produce all that paperwork or the continual assessment and form fulling. These days - for what I do now - all I have to do is sign the Register of Services to say that I have taken this or that service and/or preached. How much other paperwork is entirely up to me! yes do prepare but no set format and no formal assessment.

Between the Standards of Learning and No Child Left Behind, both programs here in the US that are "guaranteed" to get the students to actually learn something, it's a wonder if they learn anything beyond that one single skill that seems to be continually stressed and addressed; that skill of being able to take a standardized test. Anything like that across the Pond?
