Another sad loss, died today aged 81, the last of the main AYBS cast

Yes the last surviving member of the original cast. Sad loss indeed. RIP.

Sometimes I'm afraid to go on this site to hear such news.

He was of course relatively young when the programme began, probably playing someone about 10 years older.

As you say, the last of the AYBS cast. There really is no one left - unless you count Mike Berry who took over from Trevor Bannister.

Really sorry to hear this. Thought he was a really good actor in the few shows I have seen him in.

Just a funny coincidence but the last two roles the BBC mentions him being in were men of the cloth; Reverend Clement Hedges in Wallace & Gromit's The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) and as a vicar in Last of the Summer Wine (2008 ).
