Sad day.

Won't be around for a couple of days. Benny, our dog has just been put to sleep. He wasn't just a pet, he wasn't just a dog, he was a friend. We will miss him.

I am so so sorry Peri to hear that Benny has had to be put to sleep , it is clearly a difficult time for you .It's a well used platitude but if he was in pain and distress then it is the kindest but never easiest course of action , take care sir.

Sorry to hear that, Peri. Pets can not only become friends but also members of the family. Lost several dogs over the decades. Not an easy thing.

Been through that as well, they are part of the family and nearly everything that you do revolves our best friend

Been through that two years ago. First had to put a cat down then a dog. Rather distressing when you think of all the funny little antics they had got up to.

We are now on our umpty-umpth dog and cat. Kept each till they died
on their own, and then replaced each with another when needed.
The dog has mostly been a border-collie and the cat always black and white.
Both always modified female. As we are preparing for yet another trip, this
time the north-east of the US, we are again organizing boarding the
girls (boarding the border collie?).

Thank you all for your kind letters. The house is empty without Benny. We had said that Benny would be the last one but we are thinking about sharing our lives again with a small older dog that may not be so happy about spending the rest of its life in kennels. We are such softies concerning animals.
Now I must try and think of something happy to write about.
Back later.
Peri.

They enrich our lives so. I believe this world would be a lesser place if not for the furry, four legged friends we bring into our lives and make members of the family.
