Speaking of Chocolate.

Top Deck was around in early 1990's as I used to get it for my children, which was a bit of a throwback to a special treat when I was around 5 years old (1960) when we had something in a white and brown wrapper (not Cadbury's), more likely Nestles bearing in mind they did all of the milky bars and white chocolate drops or another of the Swiss makers.

I hadn't realised Top Deck had been withdrawn as I purchased one for my granddaughters birthday early November in Tesco.

EDIT: So Google tells me 1993 to noughties

As I said; I hadn't realised it had been withdrawn as I purchased one 2 months ago and it seems my son has "had to buy more for her since" but my granddaughter says "Daddy eats it all".

I have it in my mind there may also have been a plain and white version too.
Welcome to the forum sunray, lovely to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to post. Hopefully many more to come! :)

We have not bought Cadbury's chocolate since it was sold off some years ago, what was one of the best chocolate brand you could buy changed dramatically, it had a disgusting plastic taste, so instead we went for the cheaper Aldi, Lidl brands are are very happy with them.

Thank you.
I've enjoyed the show, seemingly forever but only found this site as my Brother-in-law is an avid fan and also of Emmerdale and Heartbeat/The Royal. Our birthday present to him this year was taking him to Yorkshire for a week in the summer, He was only aware of the Emmerdale booking but our first stop in the area was a cup of tea in a little cafe where we were 'very surprised' to find this:1735905262423.jpeg

The penny dropped and his response was "I thought it looked familiar".

Sadly we didn't do enough research before hand but with so many places to investigate across the 3 programs it was hard to know where to start for the best.

We did a blind taste test 18 months ago and even melted the selection into numbered moulds so all samples were the same shape but numbered, we asked about 20 people to identify the brand and also for their favourite. Galaxy came top on taste but CDM came came way down the list, even below sainsbury cooking chocolate. Several people thought Lidl milk (not the very cheapest range) was CDM and put it in top or 2nd place.

Hmm I feel a re-run coming on to see if the results are similar.

THat's one time I would be happier than Compo as executive in charge of testing!

Have to say I do tend to stick with Galaxy nowadays because those *********** at Cadbury have decimated our chocolate so given the choice I do favour Galaxy however having said that my granddaughter brought so chocolate home from a Spanish chocolate factory and it was delicious.

That's interesting, I've always found Spanish chocolate... uncomfortable is the wrong word but I can't think of better. It's made for a hotter climate and ours will melt there.

When the grandchildren were smaller we 'sponsored' the family holiday and went to one Costa Brava hotel 4 times in 6 years, we got to know the entertainment staff very well and when their manager knew we were coming again she begged for chocolate, I reckon we took about 50 items; things like KitKat, Mars etc. By the time we got to the hotel they had to go directly into the fridge as they were getting soft.

Ahhh we should have taken frosty Nora to look after them en route.

I remember fondly the western chocolate shop from my year in Shanghai - all the very finest chocolates were there and you could bargain for a better price! :03:

There were so many varieties of Kit-kat, Reeces, Lindt, etc remind me again why I left! ;)
