I think that Cleggy would have a feel for statistics - Compo's study of horse racing form certainly did not utilise statistics. I used to teach the subject.....
However I must be at a loose end: and have been looking at the statistics: I note that almost 50% of members have never posted (59 in fact) and that the top ten posters (about 8% of the total) are responsible for 79% of the posts.
I think this illustrates perfectly the Pareto effect where a small number make the majority of the running.
However is this number of non posters unusual - those who just look and enjoy as compared to those who get more involved. It makes me wonder whether a lot of the support for the series is from a silent majority who do not comment, join in (rather like Cleggy).
Any views from others who may be more used to these forums/fora (depending on your viewpoint about the derivation of the word and the continuation of classical language influence on modern language).
