Don't forget all the clock's go on an hour in the UK tonight, then it's the start of British summer time let's hope we get a good one.:01:

If your clock has been repaired by Tom don't bother, because if you put it forward an hour every chance it will rewind and go back 3 , the minute hand will fall off and the clock will chime at 48 minutes past the hour :22:
I agree, especially true if he has to use spare parts from Auntie Wainwrights!

Not a great start to summer here tipping down , panic is ensuing with local DIYers Wickes and B&Q closed where will they get the wood etc to construct their very own Ark, which will be needed if this rain doesn 't stop.

The BBC news page is carrying an article about clocks going forward . It discusses the concern of how to get up for work when the clocks go forward etc . It depicts times gone by when there were no alarm clocks, like we have now , and so you could employ a "knocker upper" for a few shillings a week and they would come around at the agreed time and wake you up .

They used a variety of methods, the most popular being a long pole with which they would tap on your bedroom window. Other methods were used the most humorous in my eyes was a Pea Shooter see below:)

Happy summer to you all, I'll be hibernating when it gets here :36:
Captain, if anyone was to come shooting peas at me in the morning they'ed be likely to get the chamber pot, whether I'd asked them too or not :13:

Hello Pearl,

The lady in the photograph was a professional knocker upper using a pea shooter and charged sixpence a week to wake up clients who hired her . It cannot have been great job out in all weathers shooting peas at peoples windows, alright in the summer but in winter !!:07::mad:

We had very heavy rain and strong wind's through the night, the rain has stopped now but it is still very windy

We have had some sun today - probably that's it until September if previous years are anythign to go by!
