Summer Wine Novels by Roy Clark.

Looking back and smiling

Well-Known Member
I’ve recently obtained these three novels by Roy Clark and read the first one which was published in 1974.

What is interesting is the additional information on the characters wives and their relationships, such as ‘the chuffing Pole’ being an employee of the Huddersfield Municipal Corporation, etc.

The characters are coarser than those portrayed in the series.

Just started Gala Week, which was first published in 1986 and the Moonbathers was published a year later.

I wish there were more.

When you read these, you can picture the cast doing what the script dictates, I think it was moonbather that has been a stage play, the books were also available as audio books
