Given he was arguably the show's most popular character, mind you neither did Ivy,Wally,Wesley,Seymour,Marina and Pearl either

i suppose ur right, but what wud u rather have, a classic episode which involved compo or turn tht into just an ok episode just so compo's name is in the title when it wudnt work and tht title wud make the episode poor, im sure roy knew what he was doing, which is why none of the other characters u mentioned had there names in the title, yes its a shame, but why mess with perfection i say

Very interesting Point CW,

For some reason Roy Clarke LOVED putting Barry and Howard's names in the titles. I can't argue with him either, he produced some of the greatest titles!

There was an episode called the thing in Wesleys shed in series 18 :).But none of the others you have mentioned have not got their name in an episode title.Howard must had had at least 5.

A quick check through and I make it :

Howard is mentioned in 13 titles
Barry in 11
Nora in 7
Foggy in 4
Clegg in 3
Smiler and Truly both in 2

And 1 each for - Blamire, Sid, Edie, Wesley, Mrs Avery, Glenda, Billy, PC Cooper, Nelly and Stella

Face it folks , after the second or third series if you thought of Summer Wine you immediately thought COMPO!! ;D He didn't need his name in the title! ;)
