The Swimming Pool

Found a nice picture of the Swimming Pool the trio went to in the episode "Earnshaw Strikes Again" which when they got there was derelict, it is located towards the top of Goose Green in Holmfirth, the site still appears on Google earth, the house seen in the background are in Cemetery Road and still there.

Really great photo Terry I love old black and white photos of days gone by like the one below which is a day trip from a local pub in Gateshead near Newcastle around 1930 . Given our weather and the horse drawn coach is open top the guys must have been pretty tough , be nice in the summer.

Note that only ladies are brave enough to dive into what must be a pretty cool pool , men are probably having a drink at the local hostelry

The picture looks a bit 1950ish so it's highly possible it was women only at certain times.

We had a lido near us when we were kids, my dad was a huge believer in kids learning to swim so he used to take us, it was brilliant, a totally different atmosphere to indoor swimming pools.

Lived in Maine as a kid and early on learned to swim
in our very cold Lake Sebego. Kinda miss it down here
in warm-ish North Carolina.

The picture looks a bit 1950ish so it's highly possible it was women only at certain times.

The two people sitting on a bench at the far end appear to be wearing coats. The ladies are artfully posed on diving boards and not actually in the water and there is no one else around. Even though there are leaves on the trees, it doesn't exactly seem to be summer.

If the pool ended in 1949 then likely that the original photograph would be 1930s. Women only sessions very likely in those days. None of this mixed nonsense!!!
