Has anyone ever thought if there was another spin off series ever what years would they cover. Mabye just after war or the swinging Sixties and what could the sories be like we could see Cleggy married or Seymour coming out of the RAF and becoming a teacher or early Wesley pottering around with some engines in the same overalls and Compo just being Compo or maybe stories involving a young Sid and ivy early in there marriage and of course Nora and Wally.
Your thoughts or ideas please and who you think would be good to play the roles if it ever happend :)

A good topic here,I will give this some thought re what actors to use, well we had fosw then losw,so would it move to Oxfordshire and be called Midsomerwine

Set in the early 60's I think the original FOTSW cast would be the right age now

I know some are still involved in the industry I wonder what became of Paul Wyatt who played Compo and the likes of Helen Patrick and Gary Whittiker who played Nora and Wally :)

No, I'm very sorry here. but I really like Heartbeat as
well as it's spin-off The Royal. I have all the episodes
of both shows and I really like them. I especially love
Gina and Lizzy!!

I'm not knocking Heartbeat.

But it's a long running show of it's own right, and to copy it's style would be unimaginative and too obvious.

I think a show set in the 60s or any other period shouldn't need to rely on pop music of the time.

We watched Heartbeat in the early years but then it just got boring and samey.

I think there is a lot of potential to have the show set in the 50's or 60's and make a comedy around miserable marriages, with the likes of Howard and Pearl, the Cleggs, the Truloves, the Pegdens, the Battys, and the Hardcastles.

Then again, a comedy showing the military mishaps of Foggy in service could be good.

Overall, these would probably be the best eras to cover.

I like Heartbeat, but The Royal was boring as far as I am concerned. Each to his own!

Never much into either but I always thought "Where the heart is" much of a muchness with "Heartbeat". Any thoughts?

Both shows are good. I love shows of the wartime or a bit after. What about Wartime Farm was also very good. Call the Mid wife is also good.

I liked 'Where The Heart Is' I liked the cast better. I seem to remember that either Where The Heart Is and the Royal were considered to be dropped, and The Royal won. Bad move as far as I was concerned.

all i know is "Where the Heart Is" was axed in 2007, a shame cause it was a decent show in the early days, but lost some magic the last couple of years i think

A lot of Where the Heart Is was filmed in the Colne Valley. Slaightwaight was used a lot, and also Marsden. The pub they used called The Green Man, as I remember, is actually 'The Silent Woman'. Not too many of those about. And I mean pubs gentlemen!
