Mr Wainwright, a.k.a. Blake Butler starred in George and Mildred as Mr Higson, George's boss, and guess what? Not only was he up to his antics as he does with Miss Moody and Mrs Partridge with a female woman, but she was called... Miss Wainwright? Now isn't that funny? Brian and Johnny must be LOTSW Fans and decided that he was for the role and named his companion Miss Wainwright! :)

This may sound daft, but I'm sure fewer people now are called Wainwright than there used to be...
 
Doesn't, just are Wainwrights dying and not having heirs, i.e. grandaughters?
