I have seen far too many attempts to create American versions of our older favourite shows (Red Dwarf, Faulty Towers for starters) which were appalling!
Very sorry to our wonderful American brethren, no offence meant.

Controversial but Auntie would become Uncle , an Arkwright like character played by the cleverest wheeler dealer the great Phil Silvers who could play it as the recently retired from the army Sgt Bilko.

If it was Americanished Foggy would be going round packing heat and at some point he'd shoot someone then the whole thing would turn into NYPD Blue.

Although technically English I could see Angela Lansbury playing a brilliant Auntie Wainwright. She was outstanding when I saw her play Madam Arcati and I think that character does have parallels with Auntie.

Sort of reprising their role from a movie and if there were multiple series of the show on the other side of the pond one of the trios could be Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short , they could revise their roles from Three Amigos , although perhaps one of them only could turn up in costume from the film but playing it as El Lobo the smiling bandido .
