Wally Batty - Legend

Nora's expression comes from scowling once and the wind changed direction at precisely the same time so she had no choice but to display that face all the time . It is testimony to her supreme ability as an actress that she very , very occasionally smiled or laughed , for example when Alvin snapped her photo to make the cardboard puppet he hung on his bedside wall.

I loved Wally, he was a cracking character. Funnily enough i was working in Salford today a couple of streets away from where Joe was born. There used to be a pub called the Rovers Return on his street many years ago, spookily he got his early tv work on Coronation St.The terraced houses on his street are long gone but the original Coronation St with it's terrace housing is still there two streets up.

I'm not back there until next month. If you search(google) it, it will bring up some old pics. The houses have been replaced with offices and some apartments. It's Tatton Street in Ordsall. The original Coronation St is probably more famous nowadays for being the home of the legendary Salford Lads club.
