Why no Charger

I wonder how many people this would affect, It appears that many major brands of mobile phones no longer include a charger, the later phones will need a hefty power brick to charge it quickly and until recently it was supplied with the phone, not any longer.
The brands claim this is to save waste as you probably have some sort of charger with your old phone, yet when they advertise they say don't forget to add a charger at £££ more.
Chances are either your old phone charger is lower power, or your selling your old phone after the contract expires and the buyer would expect the original charger to come with it, so is this an extra money making exercise and will it spread to EV's not coming with batteries, that will be extra sir.
I am aware that you can buy online a multitude of cheap chargers from the usual websites, but I also spotted a case of a lad that used one of these with his new i-phone costing over £1000, it seems likely the charger was faulty and blew the phones electronics and Apple refused to fix the phone stating he had not used an approved Apple charger which cost £60 extra, you can understand why someone will be tempted to buy another brand costing £7 of Amazon, yet the risk could be high doing this.

Most electronic devices nowadays can be charged from a USB socket, you just need the right cable, and most phones are USB C sockets. My bedside lamp has two USB sockets which I use to charge my phone and there's one in the car as well. My phone did come with a charger but I never use it. I've got a drawer full of old chargers that never get used.

I have to keep buying new chargers I've bought expensive and cheap but I can't for the life of me find an original Samsung charger, even the ones that advertise fast charging chargers take hours to charge my phone. Had to buy a new one a few weeks so went to a fast charging "genuine " Samsung charger, its not genuine and it took nearly 8 hours to charge my blooming phone!
So if anyone does have an original genuine Samsung charger stuck in a draw somewhere I'd happily pay them for it.

Nearly all my devices can now use "contactless" wireless charging, so one charger does the lot!
Most modern cars have contactless chargers installed, but a cable charges the phone a lot faster. Not only is the contactless one much slower but it also makes the phone quite hot which I'm guessing isn't ideal.

They do get hot, try plugging in one of those 80 watt chargers and see how warm they get

Our "secondary" cameras are Sony digital Handycams, one was missing a charger. It would work on a cheap USB power supply plug - but to charge it needed the original Sony charger, it knows if it's not a Sony Charger. The USB plug things cost abut £5, the Sony charger was about £40.

On the subject of cables, I’ve stopped buying these off eBay as most of the ‘genuine’ Apple ones I’ve bought have turned out to be fake.

I have suffered the same! My main problem recently is that I tidy up, hang the cables neatly somewhere and then can never find them again. I think the Cornish Pixies eat them........
