Window in Sid's Cafe

Something has been bothering my husband for a few years...the window
in the kitchen of Sid's Cafe....is it on the set only? We can't see it on the
outside wall in the location shots.

Yes, it only appears on the studio set.

Based on the design of the actual building, there wouldn't be room for the counter and the kitchen.

The real cafe has the counter on the back wall, and a mock-up effort on the wall where you would expect the kitchen to be.

What interests me is that I don't think we saw the cafe exterior in the pilot (you'll have to correct me if I'm wrong) yet the interior set and the scenery of outside is clearly based on the real building.

I don't think you do, but the two girls at the start walk down the steps to the courtyard where the cafe is (although you don't see the cafe). Maybe they thought if a series developed, that's the building that they would use.

EDIT: OR could the outside of the cafe have been seen in a deleted scene?
