    Michael Fish took all the blame and quite rightly so but I believe Bill Giles had stated " It might be a bit breezy in the channel" I am sure he was then renamed Bill Gales after that and it has stuck since then . :)

    They have been repeating the show since about 1990, as new episodes were released on BBC, UK Gold etc would start showing them a couple of years later, so for the first couple of years all we got was series 1-4 on constant repeat...

    I think he was brilliant. He (John) got his character so spot on. The nuances perfected. Absolutely top tier actor. Strangely I was watching him the other day in Serenade For.... episode and realised how excellent he was. Truly missed.
