As an actor that's mostly done it 'for the love of it' for 30 years I can attest to a buzz from performing you really cannot get elsewhere. That interaction you can feel between yourself an audience is pure magic and if you could bottle...

I've stayed at The Old Bridge and enjoyed it very much. The food was good. Can't speak for the bar, since all I've had from it was a cuppa. Also stayed at The Rooms at the Nook. No restaurant, just breakfast, rooms were very nice.

There's a YouTube video of when Summer Wine was inducted into the comedy hall of fame and Peter Sallis compares it to the weather forecast which I thought was quite churlish. Granted that SW is what's described as a gentle comedy, but...

If you want a full blown Hotel, then the Bridge in the centre of town is ideal, other than that the Huntsman which is under 3 miles out of the centre with better parking, then you can either drive into town or a Uber/ Taxi
