I bought my first house for £52,000 and sold it 5 years later for £125,000. But you usually have to buy and sell in the same market so unless I wanted to move into the All Mod Conned caravan the values were inconsequential…..
My dad paid £500. a house he later sold for £200,000
In the mid 1990s we bought a house for £27,000 a few years ago next door sold their house, same as ours for £280,000 and I've seen some near here get over £300,000. It's mind blowing.

Wow, I just cannot get over that house in Tottenham Court road, it looks like a country mansion, unlike the tacky discounted electrical and vape shops which adorn it today.
