not sure if that's the best solution, if that's a water pipe and the joint goes eventually? Personally, I'd have raised the socket.

Its like Russian roulette, you never know which plug you're going to plug in at the exact some time has a drop of water will drip, it could be today or in 3 months.
 
Oh my, those are water pipes near near a power outlet!? That seems a bit scary to me. Hope it was not Bert Large from Doc Martin that was working on your house.
