Clive Swift RIP

I've just seen that Clive Swift has died aged 82. Another "oldie" gone and maybe another that would have been at home in Holmfirth.

Really enjoyed him on KUA. His character was so mellow.

An actor of such diversity appeared in classics like Dombey and Son and the Barchester Chronicles comfortable in drama and comedy , destined never to utter the words " The Bouquet residence the man of the House speaking" because he would never get anywhere near the phone when it rang . He is of a breed of actors who leaned their trade by playing diverse roles from all genre like Ronnie Barker, Leonard Rossiter to an extent that they were comfortable playing roles in any type of play or TV series . Actors and Actresses of today don't appear on the surface to have that multiplicity. A sad loss.
