Since everyone has a mobile phone these days, they phased out a lot of the old payphones over here. But then they stopped and did an amazing thing (Well Amazing for politicians!!) they made ALL the payphones in Oz FREE!! Yes....FREE. If you can find one it costs nothing to phone from one!
Also a sense of irony to this even, cash machines are now closing down as we're on our relentless march towards a cashless society, Covid has hastened that change, it's very rare I use cash these days...

Won't you get people abandoning mobile phones that they have to pay for if they can use a payphone for free.

No danger of that I don't think I 700,You cannot get Twitter or Facebook on a payphone and people seem addicted to that sort of rubbish.

I han't thought of that Brian. I forget that people can get online with a mobile phone as I only have a small cheap one that just rings and texts.

Treat yourself !! Mobiles have developed and seem to control everyone's lives it is a refreshing change that someone is actually using it shock , horror as a phone !!
