Sadly, the BBC do not hold a copy of It's Only Me, Whoever I Am in their archives. Unless someone out their has an early home recording, it is likely to have been lost to the ages. Very frustrating!
When Algarve was produced it was shot entirely on 16mm and Super16mm film. This was then edited and transferred to video tape for broadcast. The result is a standard definition video tape master with the inherent issues of its era – zoomed in shots, colour variations, occasional tape dropouts...
I can confirm that – all being well – this will be the version that Richard Latto and I remastered from the original camera elements. It will look better than it has ever done before. We'd love to do the other two feature films and more, but can only make a case for that if as many people as...
I loved this series, though didn't think much of the recent special. It was fine, but didn't really add anything that we hadn't seen of the characters before. At its best, it is perfect, gently, thought-provoking, comfort television for me.
Barry very kindly made these photos available to me in order to prepare the Summer 1982 magazine which was on sale in Holmfirth. If you'd like your own copies of the the photos, then there are currently about 25 copies left before the print run runs out for good. I don't think they'll be made...
A quick update on this. Those who backed should all have received an email or message with the first eight minutes of the episode in unrestored form.
My plan is to make a short clip available to everybody tomorrow via the Summer Winos Youtube channel, then it will be time to press on with...
The scan will be in our hands next week. But for now, here is a comparison between the DVD (top) and the film (bottom). Note just how much extra information there is around the sides of the frame, plus the DVD version seems to have been vertically stretched somewhat. The colours are also a...
I'm happy to say we've hit the target and I've made an appointment to meet with the scanning company in the week of the 12th, so I'll be in touch with everybody who has signed up nearer the time.
If anybody still wants to sign up or in the unlikely event we end up with a surplus, I can reveal...
I'm afraid there's nothing I can do about postage prices. They are what they are and if the rates drop I'll lower them. Sorry about that. Amazon isn't really an issue because they are horrible to work with and the quality control isn't great.
Online orders are now shipping out, so you should...
To be perfectly frank, we simply don't know. These came to us without much information attached. We know they are edited scenes. They may be scenes from the final edited episode. They may be the scenes without music, effects, or laughter. All I know for sure is the episode as I was able to hold...
I think it'll keep things simpler if we do a direct fund transfer. I'll provide everybody with invoices and receipts so they know where the money is going. I also wont ask for payment until enough people have come forward to offer support.
As it stands, we now have just over £100 in pledges...
A have an odd scheme in mind... because I need something to do now that the festival is over!
Over the weekend, a friend very kindly gifted my a reel of Super16mm film featuring scenes from the Last of the Summer Wine episode "How to Create a Monster" (1997).
Yes, I know the above film can...
