In those days they had young retired chimney sweep lads to push the cars up hillsThose 1930's cars would have struggled with all the surrounding hills.
I noted whilst staying at Noras how any large vehicles driving along here would cause a considerable albeit brief amount of vibration and noise in the living room as if the house was shaking!Old picture of Holmfirth, with Hollowgate on the left with what is now the Fair Trader store and was the Book Store, up the hill on the left is the back entrance to the Wrinkled Stocking, the pub on the right has gone and now an open space.
