    My little Yorkshire ;)

I don´t blame your grandparents, lots of folk of that generation here don´t want to talk about the war time. It was very bad, not just because of the war, but also because of the danger you were in permanently anyway, neighbours were spying on each other, reporting people who were against Hitler...

    A Cold and Frosty Morning

Absolutely wonderful photo, Terry!!! We´ll get that again too in the next few days, what a long winter and late spring.

    The Sallis Longevity

We had an actor here who started his career when Peter was born and stopped one or two years ago, a few months before he died... at 108! He had been on stage for 90 years!

    Computer Game designer required

I´d follow the trio and lie down on the grass with them. The Compo, Cleggy, Foggy trio that is. Great idea Terry, how nice it would be to have the illusion, actually visible on the screen.

    Mis-Reading

Then I would love to have one with you too :D, I love mistakes like that, even my own ones give me the giggles. Believe it or not, I just committed a mis-reading :o. I mis-read a title: "The Impotence of being Earnest". Importance actually...!

    Summer Wine fan by proxy.

I had goosebumps all the way through. How terrible it is to lose a loved one :'(.

    A Clean Sweep

That´s interesting, they are considered good luck here too, but not at weddings, just generally when you see one in the street. You are supposed to touch him and make a wish, I think. We often have little plastic chimney sweeps in plant pots with lucky clover for the New Year as a gift, both...

    Mis-Reading

Okay, if spoken ones are allowed, I´ll tell you the ones I unintentionally amused Peter with: "Okay, I´ll shut down and sit up!" "Have you got a frog in the toad?" "This toad is too tight." (I know, I seem to like toads and I actually do, but I meant coat!) "My phone has a bat flattery." "Chin...

    Clumsy Cleggy

Exactly, and Bill Owen even has to hold on to his chair afterwards when they do this "dance" sitting down because otherwise he´d fall off, but Peter doesn´t. In fact I have also noticed the opposite sometimes, "nimble Cleggy" so to speak. Can´t remember the episode now, but he once carried 3...

    Mis-Reading

I do it all the time, unfortunately in German of course. The only English one I can remember is a boring one from school, for "nowhere" I read "now-here". Another one in my class twisted "free time" to "fry team". I commit English ones when speaking though, all the time. We could open a topic...

    ACCIDENTAL MISTAKE.

Oh dear, the alcohol could kill too many of the bacteria that are supposed to clean the water, this could really be a problem for the sewage works! You notice how I´m not remotely interested in the whiskey ;D?

    It's a funny old language

:D What a relief I´m not the only one that´s puzzled about some things. Funnily enough we say the same thing here, "pull the door to", it´s "mach die Tür zu" (make the door to, but still). Here it means to just shut it so that it is neither locked, nor ajar.
