    Summer Wine Book: Contributions Wanted!

Hello everyone. It is time for me to revise and update my book Last of the Summer Wine: An Appreciation. And I would like to feature some thoughts from fellow fans and followers of the series. So, it would be fantastic if any of you could spare the time to answer the following: "What makes Last...

    lotsw: An Appreciation

I hope so. I spent a long time researching the book and carried out many interviews with members of cast and crew. And I have to say, it was a hugely enjoyable experience. My love for Last of the Summer Wine has, if anything, increased. The best comedy series of all time, bar none.

    MEMORIES...

You are absolutely right, Captain. This 'mystery' has been bugging me for decades; without the internet, I would probably never have found the answer. Big thanks to maltrab, whose original suggestion led me to a similar website which contained much of the info I was looking for. It would be...

Gosh, I don't know. Why do you ask?

    MEMORIES...

I remember bits and pieces from the day, but cannot recall if it was colour or b/w. I am fairly sure we only had a b/w TV then, so I wouldn't have known the difference! No trace of the programme on YouTube or BFI. Shame as I would love my daughters to see that I didn't always look like Sid...

It was screened between 4.15 and 4.25pm! Bingo!

    MEMORIES...

I have a strong suspicion that it was ITV, especially now that I've looked on Genome and can find no mention of it. But your suggestion has led me to another website, TVRDb, and I have found this entry under Kenneth Griffith... THAMES ONCE UPON A TIME 5 OCT 1970 Could this be it!?! Am going...

No-one can! It's as if it never existed. But I remember it so clearly.

    MEMORIES...

This was screened at a similar time to Jackanory... 4-5pm or thereabouts. I've checked biogs of Kenneth Griffith and found nothing. But it really happened!

    MEMORIES...

No, it wasn't Look and Read. The show I was in was simply a celeb reading a short story, nothing more. I remember one of my Primary School teachers taking me out of class to ask me all about it.

    MEMORIES...

It was definitely a show on its own. About ten/fifteeen minutes tops. I will check out Look and Read. I always thought it was called Tell Me a Story, but my research has brought up nothing.

    MEMORIES...

I wonder if any of you can help solve a small, personal mystery? Back in 1968/69, when I was much younger and marginally less ugly than I am now, I featured in a TV programme in which celebrities read stories to a small group of children... I was one of the latter! It was a bit like Jackanory...

    COMPO'S MATCHBOX

Hi everyone. Still working on the new book about LOTSW. And I would be delighted to know what you think was in Compo's matchbox. Serious answers, as far as is possible bearing in mind the subject matter!

    PLEASE TO REMEMBER...

I think Ivy is having a go at the lads (surprise, surprise) when Truly tries to reason with her. Frank Thornton delivers the lines in such a funny way that Jane Freeman fails to stifle a smile and struggles to contain herself. A wonderful moment, and I cannot check it out right now as I am away...

    PLEASE TO REMEMBER...

Good evening everyone. Need your help. There is a scene in the cafe where Truly is talking to Ivy while eating a sandwich. Frank Thornton’s performance is so hilarious, Jane Freeman starts to ‘corpse’ and is but a moment away from completely losing her composure. Can anyone remember which...
