We record a lot of the things we want to watch so we can choose when to watch it and can skip the ads. YouTube is also getting worse with the number and length of ads, so at some point when I can afford it will pay for premium to be ad free.
Do you ever imagine what the characters did offscreen in the rest of their life in Summer Wine land? I have an image of Clegg reading a book or listening to the radio in the evening, but not popping next door for a brew because Pearl is too scary!
I know that Brian Wilde negotiated a better fee than Sallis and Owen, but have always wondered how well paid (or not) the main cast members were. Presumably it was less than those on Casualty and EastEnders if only because SW was far fewer episodes a year.
There's also an earlier episode of SW with a secondhand shop where the shopkeeper sells people things they don't want. Clegg ends up buying an old metal detector.
