Roy Clarke did a brilliant job with those episodes, with the right balance of comedy and pathos. My favourite line is where Clegg says "Maybe that's what paradise is, somewhere that the sun doesn't come up till you're ready"

Her and Mrs Avery seemed to be the most ill-judged characters for SW, but thankfully they didn't last long.

There's also an unexplained woman, maybe the same one, in the Feathers pub scenes in the episode From Here to Paternity.

At the end of the episode Ros goes back to Edie's house and besides her family there's another woman who comes out to greet her. Does anyone know who she is meant to be?

At 1:31 it looks like Marina's hair has been pointed up over her red hat to make it look like a reference to the devil as it looks a little like horns. Is that just me reading too much into it, or do you think it was deliberate?

Looking forward to watching this one and seeing your take on the Pearl, Howard and Marina triangle. I always thought their situation has elements of farce. It'd be interesting to know if Roy Clarke was influenced by farce when creating those characters.

I've now watched ep 2 and going to work my way through the rest.

I've just watched ep 1 of Summer Wine Decanted and enjoyed it, but unfortunately at times the narration is drowned out by surrounding noise.
