BBC and the licence fee.

I read that the BBC is bringing in a law that makes it necessary to view their iPlayer via a current licence. They hope to block a huge shortfall in their revenue!
How long before the rest of the streaming has to follow suit?
 
Apparently the loophole to prevent people watching IPlayer when you don't have a TV licence has been closed from today . For now I think it takes the form of a message which you have to answer yes or no to but I assume they will tighten it up sooner than later could be as simple as having to input your TV Licence number to the screen but I don't think that would be effective and its rather cumbersome .
 
It's is not the most expensive streaming service out there, £150 a year to watch repeats
 
Not sure how this compares, but we download a lot of old and new
BBC stuff from ThePirateBay and tvchaosuk. FREE!!

I agree there are a plethora of shows on IPlayer and especially on IPlayer Radio that I have missed and wish to watch/listen to . It will be interesting to see how much revenue this generates and whether people take up licences . I read somewhere that the loophole lost them £130 million so if they recoup some of that hopefully they can reinvest it in programming . They could get rid of Graham Norton and invest the £2.5 million they allegedly pay him annually in a decent comedy.
 
I see the new law on watching iplayer does not cover students, so they can still watch without having a licence as longs as their main address has a licence,which will be paid for by mum and dad
