Dame Vera was undoubtedly one of the greatest entertainers and inspiring people we have been so lucky to have in our lives . I watched a documentary about her and she was fearless in her quest to make sure our troops were entertained. She could have easily just entertained in the UK or in countries close to home but she asked the authorities where no entertainers had been and told them to get her there .I think it was fitting that she was able to be a part of the VE Day 75th Anniversary the celebration would perhaps have lost a little if she had passed away before it took place . A very very sad loss especially for those brave veterans of many eras who hold her in great esteem .
R.I.P
One of my favourite Vera Lynn songs is 'There'll Be Bluebirds Over The White Cliffs Of Dover.'
When I go to Dover, I'll shall be singing that song!
