I was only thinking about this today, I must admit I like Ivy best by far and I would have loved to meet Jane Freeman, she must be a nice person with lots of humour. I love how you very often can see her hiding a smile even while she is trying to shout at somebody. And it´s true, they sometimes had chats with her like friends. I always think Ivy is not so bad under the surface. But Pearl, yes, the only time she was being nice was when Compo died and she was a bit worried about Cleggy. I must admit I don´t like Pearl either.
Marina is a different thing altogether. In LOTSW the women either seem to be of the henpecking kind or extremely naive and in search of attention and love, like Marina and Glenda.
