Yes, Tony Capstick died 2003. Interesting points I only just realised:

"Was a well-known and talented folk singer, guitarist, comedian and radio recording artist before becoming a broadcaster and actor.

For many seasons played one of two policemen who regularly witnessed the strange and hilarious occurrences resulting from the antics of the senior residents of Holmfirth in "Last of the Summer Wine (1973)."

In 1981 he had a hit (which reached number 3 in the UK charts) with a double A-side single "Sheffield Grinder"/"Capstick Comes Home", a parody of the Hovis bread commercial which was popular at the time, poking fun at the traditional northern "when I were a lad" stereotypes of working long hours in appalling conditions in the coal mines, walking miles to and from work through the snow and getting paid a pittance.

Worked for British Rail at Mexborough during the 1960s before becoming a professional performer"
