Fetch a Cheque book

It's a shame because Corner Shops were the heart of the community where you could get pretty much anything you needed and they were the hub where neighbours chatted to each other , the shopkeeper knew everyone personally and they promoted community spirit and togetherness you don't get that is huge stores and Supermarkets .
agree totally... and when I was a kid, the local service station (petrol station) - you could pickup anything - mower blades, sparkplugs for any car/mower/bike/outboard, fan belts, get flat tyres fixed while you waited - someone even used to come and serve you!!!!

These days its petrol and maybe oil, and overpriced drinks in the servo all run by the same people who run 7-11's here from Delhi

We get our car fixed and inspected at the corner Shell Station. They always put up nice holiday displays for Halloween and Christmas, and they do all sorts of repairs. They offer all sorts of services and are very nice.

In a nice little cosy disease Mrs Braddock comes in and asks to cash a cheque , Arkwright goes white but does it for Five pounds.t There is a wonderful exchange to get to the point where he agrees , the exchange of cheque for note is classic and as she departs the finale is great when he wishes Mrs Bounce sorry Mrs Braddock a good day.
