Growing up, I had liver and onions once a week, for years. But we didn't know that you're supposed to take the gristle out.

My late dad (an awesome cook) used to make liver, sausage, onions and bacon as a kind of stew type thing. He partially cooked the meats, chopped the onions etc and slow cooked it in the oven. We had mashed potatoes and vegetables with it.
Like all dads cooking it was excellent and one of my faves.

He scared the Bejesus out of me that thing, along with that monkey Topov, who was definitely a criminal. Hartley reminded me of Larry Grayson who I wasn't scared of and found friendly and amusing. The mind of a child hey.
