For fans of Britcoms....

Pretty sure Dailymotion has been mentioned previously and when it was I signed up because someone mentioned a show called Corner Gas, which I had not seen , thankfully it was on there an I am continuing to work my way through the seasons as I'm hooked on it.:)

Corner Gas is great, it has similarities to LOSW, a Cafe, the police that don't want to do any work, the strong women and the downtrodden men, I have the 5 series dvd set and watch them once or twice a year

Shouldn't Corner Gas be on the Gentle Comedies thread then? I'll do a final revision at some stage. Perhaps we could even have it as resource on the interweb site to signpost visitors to this site to other comedies we love?

For those in the U.S. Corner Gas is available on Amazon Prime. Important note, this series is part of Prime's "Freevee" arm (which I believe means you can watch with an Amazon account without being required to fork over $$ for Prime). According to this article, Freevee is being decommissioned and whatever shows flew under that flag will be assimilated into (not so free) regular Prime. So....if you don't have Prime, catch Corner Gas while you can : )

In the UK a little while back specifically on Virgin's TIVO service a channel[150] called That's TV appeared and during some of the day and evening they show classic comedies so Today from 8am they have shows Hancock's Half hour, Sorry, Duty Free, Home to Roost [John Thaw] , No Place like Home [William Gaunt from the Champions] and coming up Rising Damp, You Rang M'Lord , Yes Minister, Steptoe and Son and later on there's Bread and Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads all classic comedies so If anyone has access it sounds like a great place for the classic comedy fan.

It makes me sad to think with all these dozens and dozens of brilliant quality shows, that we have to be fed the modern not funny at all American faeces week in week out with canned laughter... or fake reality shows.. kill me!
When someone walks in a room *play the fake laugh*, someone sits down *play the fake laugh*, someone turns on the TV *play the fake laugh*- or play the fake laughter when anything happens. I don't get it.

I rarely watch TV at all anymore, more youtube and film noir movies are more my gig these days and I'm not ancient... I'm only in my 50s.... and I believe the silent majority are the same

Sanford and Son is a beloved comedy that airs to this day (including this evening : ). Made Redd Foxx a household name here.
So they took the basic concept of Steptoe and Son, sailed it across the Pond, and remade it into a black lower class sitcom with Redd Foxx as the star. I suppose that it was groundbreaking as it was one of the first black sitcoms. Incidentally, Redd Foxx's real surname was Sanford.

Although probably not in the gentle category Extras is also uploaded too, which showcases Ricky Gervais's genius IMO. I've just watched the episode with Samuel L Jackson again and I was crying with laughter :D :D :D

Wow. Thanks for the link. I've only seen a couple of clips of One Foot in the Grave and have been wanting to see much more. I never saw Only Fools and Horses, but hear how great it is.

Wow you lucky lucky sole being able to view these classic comedies from the start whereas we slightly unlucky herberts have to watch the repeats for the nth time though I have to say it is in nowhere a chore or a step too far . Hope you really enjoy them sure you will not spoiling it for you so scant detail watch out for a lady and a pelican in One Foot in the Grave .
