Loved Fred,took to TV presenting like a duck to water. A very colourful character,I had a lot of empathy with his traditional old school views on how things should be.

I have always been very fond of all his programmes,It seems like only yesterday that he was delighting us with his characterful insight into the industrial heritage of Britain.
He was extremely clever man who could turn his hand to all things mechanical, he was also a very gifted artist who drew really detailed technical drawings.
R.I.P Fred your musings and knowledge will always be remembered.
