What saddens me is the 360 degree u turn certain residents of our favourite town seem to have taken against our programme......I feel that many want to eradicate the memory of the very thing that makes Holmfirth such a vibrant happy Town.....
Our younger generation [and many older residents I am ASHAMED to say] just don't realise the significance of Summer Wine......Holmfirth IS Summerwine...and Summerwine IS Holmfirth....but I tell you this.......WE WILL NEVER FORGET THE MAGIC THAT WAS CREATED THERE FOR 3 DECADES !!!......AND WE WILL ALWAYS TRAVEL THERE TO RELIVE THE MAGIC......IT'S WHAT WE DO !!!!!.

hear hear MoodyBlue I'm completely with you on this one Comrade!!!

I think it's a real irony that the series is probably what propelled Holmfirth from run down post industrial backwater in the 70's to the thriving aspirational town it is today. Yet many of those 'aspirationals' don't feel it's 'cool' to remember the series anymore whilst eating their sourdough rolls served in a swanky cafe

I did wonder if the fans stopped visiting then how long before the cafe was turned into yet another trendy coffee shop, the Wrinkled stocking into a Turkish barbers or nail bar

Mentioned before but on a visit I went to the Information Bureau asked for any literature about the town in the context of LOTSW and was met by a blank stare and the comment "have you seen the Cafe and the briefest mention of Nora's ." I left shaking my head in disbelief . On my return home I wrote to them on Email suggesting they could perhaps produce a specific leaflet for visitors in the context of LOTSW and offered to send , after discussing with Pete, some of his then and now photos . An encouraging mail came back saying the office had passed it up the line for consideration well years on I am still waiting has never been more appropriate.

I here Graham is to treat you to a local speciality from the chip shop, Barry . It's called the John Bull which consists of savoury mince sandwiched between two thick slices of potato, covered in batter, which has a secret ingredient, and deep fried until it is crisp and golden . It has been revealed that the secret ingredient is a crushed Statin tablet
