Interesting Royal Mail Happening

I wanted to post a small parcel overseas, so I went onto Royal Mails website which ask me to put in all the info, including contents and worth and then told me the cost, I then got the option to print out a bar code, which they emailed me what to do next, it stated to take the parcel to the post office, along with the bar code and they will print the label and customs form, all I had to do is pay at the Post office.

On arrival at the Post Office they said they could not do this and had many customers a day trying to do the same thing, they advised I take it home, fill it in again online and then click on collect from my home, which cost 30p extra, this I did and they picked it up the next day.

Now except for the pain of doing a 15 mile round trip to our nearest post office, I worked out it would be cheaper for me to just get it collected in future rather than make this journey.

Now is this an attempt by Royal mail to boost their income, as more and more rural post offices close down, so folk will use this service, saving them a long trip but also added a few shillings more to the Royal mail coffers

Our local corner shop are doing a roaring trade in collecting parcels for a few different delivery firms and other than posted price it's free. Royal Mail are pricing themselves out.

Which is great Pearl but we don't have a local corner shop, in fact our nearest as the crow flies is the other side of the river Trent which is a 22 mile round trip plus I have to pay the A57 toll so that adds a pound to the cost, I can avoid the toll by adding 10 miles to the round trip.

I dread to think how bad this must be to access these places if you are in the remote spots in Wales or Scotland

Well you will live in the middle of nowhere like an antisocial hermit but totally agree it's the elderly and people with young kids struggle.

Since Britain left the EU, if I make an Amazon purchase from GB and need to return it I need to print off four labels. Two are placed inside the parcel. Another affixed to the outside and another handed to the post office teller. Pain in the preverable :02:

Blimey I'd boycott us :D
They never had a dedicated Amazon Ireland page but if you searched Amazon UK here it gives all the prices in Euro. Only in the last month they now have an Amazon Ireland page but it's absolute crap. It is like a beta version, full of glitches very hard to use so I'm still on Amazon UK until they sort it out.
