Compo's position was taken in various forms, to varying degrees of success by Tom, Billy, Barry and Alvin.

Blamire was succeeded well in the most part by Foggy, Seymour, Truly and Hobbo.

Clegg was sidelined with Entwistle taking on his characteristics as well as some of Wesley's and even Aunties.

There were others as well, which worked for you and who didn't?

Stella was an incredibly poor substitute for Nora in almost all her character traits.

Morton Beemish was not as good as the original repo man Herman Teesdale.

Crusher filled the place of Sid admirably creating a lovable character in his own right and gave somebody Ivy to shout at. (besides our trio and those that graced her catering establishment.)

I think this was the best approach for those (replacement) situations.
