Junk e-mails US

I am being bombarded every day by by junk e-mails originating in the United States. Is anyone else? The adverts are for UK based companies selling PPI, Insurance Claims and the like. You know the ones. The addresses of the two senders are:
PO BOX 025250 NUMB 91384 MIAMI, FL 33102-525OUS
PO BOX 10188 NUMB 91384 NEWARK, NJ 07101-3188US

Can any of our friends in the US help me with this or know anything about them:unhappy::unhappy::unhappy:

I clean out my spam folder about once every 6 months and most of its Viagra or some sort of dubious medical procedure that will make my wife happy ::) ( My email address makes it very clear I'm female) and the rest is coming from the States with PPI and injury claims heading the list, I've wondered why it's coming from the States too.

I'm in the States and haven't received any e-mail such as you mentioned, but I receive calls that have US numbers, frequently with my same area code, that are actually from other countries. They are trying to make their junk calls look more authentic and safe. It could be the same type of thing with the e-mail and they actually originate from other countries that might not be trusted.

I actually look forward to opening my junk email box because the most interesting emails show up from old workmates and other old friends. Thankfully haven't been bombarded by absolute trash emails. Have never seen anything listed above.

These emails I get go into my in box. I had 6 this morning all from Miami for laser eye treatment at Optical Express.

Have marked them as spam? If you do that the rest should just go straight to your spam box.

Whatever you do do not use the unsubscribe link,as that lets them know they have reached a vaild email address and you will get bombarded

A bit late now I have been doing that for days. Do you think that by ignoring them they will eventually stop?

Somebody once told me a very mean, underhanded trick to play on spam postings. Carefully send company A's info to company B with their reply paid envelope and vice versa. Never done it but have occasionally considered it!

I used to collect all the junk mail sent to me,remove my details and just send the empty pre paid envelope back, which they had to pay Royal Mail around £1 for, probably a lot more now,I opted out of all this junk yet they kept delivering it,so once a week I used to fill up the small in the wall post box with all the returns

I think that you can forward offending emails to the Postmaster and he can direct you further. Whatever you do don't actually open the email.

99% of these junk mails come from fake addresses or they are real but sent from a hacked email account, the internet providers tightened up and did a lot of blocking from fake accounts, which did reduce spam for a while but also caused problems for genuine posts being bounced, some providers blocked whole mail accounts like Hotmail & Yahoo as a lot of junk came from those accounts.

So these days the spammers hack mail providers to gain access to users account details, last year BT/Yahoo accounts were hacked several times, this is why BT moved away from Yahoo, sadly Talk Talk jumped at this and now use the Yahoo servers, this gives the spammers genuine accounts to send their junk from

I think as far as email accounts being hacked is the price companies pay for outsourcing a lot of their services

I have been marking them as spam for the last two weeks and they are still going into my in box. Seem to be getting more than ever now.

The problem can be they change their mailing details slightly so each mail is different to the last sent, this gets around the spam filters, there are ways of setting up a blacklist covering everything sent from those domains, I find the best way is to set up a new mail account i.e gmail, just let your friend know the details of the new account, when you have to give out your email address online for one reason or another, then give them the old address, never the new one, just let the old address get all the junk
Oh if you do this make sure you change the details in your profile so you will still get mail etc from the forum
