Mark This Forum Read - what does it do?

In each forum, under Forum Tools, there's a tool called "Mark This Forum Read". I've clicked it for a couple of forums, but can't see any difference. What should I be seeing?

In each forum, under Forum Tools, there's a tool called "Mark This Forum Read". I've clicked it for a couple of forums, but can't see any difference. What should I be seeing?

You won't actually 'see' anything.
What it does is clear the list of threads/posts that are marked as 'unread' according to when you last logged in.

For example, if you haven't visited the forums for a couple of days, then click on the "Latest Posts" button at the top of the page, you will get a list of new threads/posts that have occurred since your last visit. If you see none that interest you, you can click the "Mark Forums Read" link which will then clear that list.
