My Castle. My Kingdom

Bamburgh is iconic and wonderful to visit but for me it is Ford Castle in Northumberland because we had a field trip from school whilst in the sixth form and stayed in the Castle . We learned to play croquet , never ever played since , the lawn was near the battlements so had fun knocking opponents ball over them so they had to go right outside the castle to retrieve them . Some of us at 18 could sneak off to the pub without being reprimanded by the teachers and staff who were often in the pub also, two German girl exchange students were with us and drunk us under the table :13:. It was just such a change from the norm and a great time. I had a look and it is still running the courses which will be brilliant for any school groups who go hope they have the same fabulous time we did :)

Conwy! I took the guided tour of the castle one of the several times I visited the town. This was back when HF Holidays still had a country house hotel there. HF eventually sold that hotel because most of their clients are walkers, and it took too long to travel to and from Snowdonia each day.

The castle and the surrounding beaches at Bamburgh are great, especially when the sea fret comes in

If you lot pop down to Sotheby properties, you can buy your own little island with it's own castle......... all for a mere £5.5 Million

Just don't forget to invite me to the castle warming party.

When the kids were little I dragged them around many castles at the weekend
Criccieth, Harlech, Beaumaris, Caernarfon, Conway, Flint, Beeston, Penrith.
As a child I got dragged around many stately homes which at that age I found a bit stuffy unless there was something that had interesting hidden bits like Haddon Hall or Tatton’s medieval hall.
