Yes, there is a time when it is vital to have accurate weather information. A very sad example was the Texas girls camp disaster. So sad.

But then there is nothing wrong with stepping outside and looking, listening (for thunder), feeling if it's raining or snowing and how hard. If you step outside and slip on the black ice, would that be a good time to take the car out?
