Nominations and awards.

So shocked about not winning many awards. 37 years does say something. We have a soap opera star who was nominated for like 15 years and never won. I think Erica Cain was the character,not a big soap fan. It would always make the new that she was up again, but no wins.

Was there ever anything on the BBC about this wonderful show not getting the recongnition that it deserved?
 
The compo passing trilogy should have won something. If only for Peter sallies performance.
 
I think from reading the various accounts, the series was constantly unwanted by the higher echelons of the BBC. It was not the sort of programme they thought that we should watch despite a huge following, including reputedly, HM Queen. Because they could not relate to something outside of London and their values - they seemed to be reluctant to accept it. My view of course, if one of them was reading and thought otherwise they could always rebut this thought!
